Misión
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina
From February 2023 to September 2024, I created the first 360°–immersive restaurant bathroom at Misión BA, a restaurant in Buenos Aires, Argentina. My role as the creative engineer included creative direction, technical design and implementation, and managing a team of digital artists.
BACKGROUND
The team at Misión set out to revolutionize the restaurant industry across the Americas. In the heart of Palermo, Argentina, a high-class restaurant on the ground floor and the America’s first ever Baño-Boliche (bathroom/night club) on the rooftop, Misión was already going to make a statement. But when it came to the bathrooms, there was one unique space that Mission could forage it’s creativity and make a name for itself.
The communal bathroom on the second floor needed to be breathtaking and play into the mission of Misión, to lose yourself in wonder. Together, I partnered with Misión BA to build a 360°–immersive environment where that’s exactly what visitors could do.
Over a series of months, I led the team from a construction site to a full 360°-immersive room. I led and directed the team through the following tasks:
- Initial Visual & Technical Ideation
- Projector Selection and Sourcing
- Visual Direction and Artist Management
- Technical Design & Engineering
- Projector Installation w/ Onsite Technicians
- Map Space with MadMapper Software
- Show and Space Optimization
Left: Projector placement was our biggest challenge. The room was small, and we had to balance the brightness of the projector’s lights on visitors’ eyes, with creating the crispest image on the wall.
Right: Balancing the white point and black point became key in making the room really feel immersive. We tested many paint colors and consistencies before discovering the perfect formula for the space and visuals.
